You cannot make an appeal my friend because you are not entitle W2 unemployment insurance, you have to wait for PUA the application is coming out on Apr 28th. Philadelphia and Pennsylvania PUA Application is currently out to apply.

Very appreciative for the video, so like yourself I was given a zero with Cal EDD. I have a question about doing my 1099 2018-2019 forms with Lyft and if anyone can help me out here I would be very very very grateful, so while doing my forms with LYFT from 2018-2019 do I total up all earnings for every month? If anyone can help someone who isn't so far a wiz at doing excel spreadsheet I would be very grateful, thanks!!!

State of California is supposed to have a section on the edd website just for independent contractors. If you file under the current system you will be denied and then have to appeal etc…..just wait for the proper section supposedly going to be ready on April 28th.

You won't need to appeal. Once they get the new portal up April 28, it will accommodate self employed individuals. You will most likely get benefits. The CARES act specifically states even if you have exhausted your benefits, your are eligible. Unfortunately it is a waiting game until they get up and running. I know it is frustrating, but I'm optimistic it will come through, plus it will be retroactive so you won't be missing out on any benefits. Check out this page for more information. This only applies for California. I'm not sure about other states. https://www.edd.ca.gov/about_edd/coronavirus-2019/pandemic-unemployment-assistance.htm

One of the questions when filing a month ago was "between 2018 and 2020 did you file a claim(s), reopen a claim(s), or collect benefits under the Unemployment Insurance (UI), Disability Insurance (DI) or Paid Family Leave (PFL) program(s)?" At that time the answer was "No". And of course since then have received the letter saying "Denied". If we go online on the 28th and are asked the same sort of question, what should we say?

Hey Jay, with the new program for independent contractors, should I appeal for being denied with the current program, or just wait to apply with the new program.

ok I send them also why I am entitled, so the ask me to resubmit the 1099 incomes. But there is no way as soon you add this to the message missing income, the system says, you are not sending a questions and does not let you even send it. The also turned off the fax so you don't bother them to much.. Gov Employees..

Question: Can you do any deliveries/doordash/instacart while waiting for these benefits? I am working around the clock trying to keep my head above water and the deliveries are few and timely(having to wait in long drive through lines) but I cannot afford to go to zero $ income I am only making about a third of what I had been (pre-february). Can I get any of this CARES money? thanks for any suggestions.

Good site, Some poor advice. If you apply for PUA in California you will receive a maximum of $167 plus $600, total $767per week. If you apply and receive PUA you can NOT get UI. If you Appeal the UI decision and win your appeal (which you should), you can get a maximum of $1050 a week. That's about $1300 more a month than PUA! Hold out for as long as you can and put pressure on the State to pay you what you are legally entitled to. You won't be able to collect the difference later. Appeal UI first. Only do PUA if you absolutely must

I am on ss disability. Also drive for UBER and Lyft! I have to depend on this part time income to support myself. Since I am a high risk catagory person during this pandemic, I had to stop driving for rideshare gig two weeks ago as the business was not there anymore, versus the risk! I am in Texas. Any suggestion as to whether or not to file? Please advise! Thanks…

Not so sure an application number on EIDL means guaranteee of funds. Wife and myself applied together, but different applications first time around. Both got application #'s close to one another. I got $1000, she did not. Also, some uber drivers are being denied the PUA assistance. Not everyone gets that as well. Seems like their drawing straws. My wife got PUA like 3 days after applying. I am still waiting and i applied 2 days earlier. Good luck to everyone, but dont expect anything. Its a faulty system.

HEY CALIFORNIANS: Yes, file appeal, but WHAT ADDRESS do you send it to? Bozo in this vid doesn't say and it is KEY to this process. Big HOLE in this jerk's whole message. You're supposed to send the appeal and supporting documentation to the address on the "Notice of Determination and/or Ruling", form DE1080 CZ. This rideshare guy shows you the form he got, same one I got, and its not NOT THAT FORM. So he's sending it to the wrong address because the address on the above-noted form is apparently a state secret. I've been all over the web looking. If SOMEONE had that address they'd actually be sharing useful information, unlike this chappie.

Side Note: pretty nifty huh? They can tell you you're getting zero, but forget to send you the specific form with the specific address that initiates the appeals process. What recourse do you actually have now. Zero, like you're benefits. HELLO? IS ANYONE STILL THINKING??????

Can you qualify for CA unemployment benefits of postmates deactivated your fleet account for no real reason? For allegedly violations of the fleet agreement without any explanation in details of the reason why? Does Edd validate your earnings after submitting your 1099?
