In most cases, whenever an employee was terminated, it was on a Friday before lunch. The exception was gross dereliction in job performance. Life was much easier when there was ample documentation if the employee was not consistently meeting standards and practices as stipulated in the employee handbook and job description. This was best reflected in the goals section of each employee's periodic evaluation. The same was stipulated for layoffs. There was a consistent policy taking into account length of employment and overall performance. At termination meetings there were at least two supervisors present. It was a smooth orderly process when handled according to protocall.
    Thanks for this presentation.

I got terminated for being on my phone and “walking around too much” when the only time I left was to fulfill an order. And really? No one has ever checked their phone at work? So stupid…

There are different rules at different places around the world. But regardless of the rules some sackings should be seen as wrong anywhere. I had worked at a school run by Sisters of Mercy nuns. A cover up needed to take place so the school leaders placed a written false report in my file to transfer blame to me. At a later stage the head nun must have felt guilty that I was damaged by lies so she told a story about white lies. She did not admit to a lie or say what the story related to but it was obvious. She said that if a lie was for the overall good of the community it was a white lie. (So it was for the good of the community for me to be damaged to protect the holy image of the nuns) I told other staff about the situation. I was warned I must not speak to others and got sacked. It seems to me that regardless of rules, those in power will always win. It is a reality that support will always go to the highest bidder and to keep ones job will out bid truth and you won't get a peep out of anyone. I know that no one could care what happened to me but if anyone wished to read my true story google white lies test blog and google innuendo test blog and also warning to employees test blog.

I got terminated and I have no one to blame but myself. I was overheard using obscene language and I was turned in. Maybe my post here will same someone else's job. Take my word for it. Do not use profane or dirty words or language when you are at work. The company has every right to terminate your employment.

  24. molly2 frodo2 says:

I was recently terminated from my job this past Friday. My supervisor is still requiring me to complete paperwork. She threatened that if I do not complete the paperwork she will report me for an ethical violation. She is forcing me to work outside normal work hours to try to complete the paperwork by a certain date. Can a supervisor still require an employee to work even after officially terminating the employee?
