Those laws have come into effect for a lot of reasons, and there should not be a forced "release of liability" for those human resource people and vengeful individuals who decide to engage in gossip sessions against people simply on the virtue of being in the market shopping for potential labor resources.   I always signed those forms with the note that I wanted to know what anyone had to say about me, and to check the accuracy of what they said, but you know what?  They almost never comply with that simple request, the courtesy of letting me know what someone said about me.
