In today’s video, you’re going to learn the three most common background check errors that could cost you your job and how you can prevent it from happening.
Listen as Ian Lyngklip explains the three most common errors on a background check that can lose you a job.
You went in for a job interview, and you’re totally qualified. It has great pay, and even better benefits. The employer wants to hire you, but they ran a background check, and it comes back with some errors, and they can’t hire you because of what’s on it. There are some common errors that we find in these background checks.
Most of the time, we find that the error was made on the part of the background check company, where they confused one or more people and put the criminal backgrounds of one person on another person’s report. We also regularly see that the background check companies sometimes mischaracterize the nature of criminal convictions, treating some crimes as much worse than they really were.
Errors can also come about by expunged or diverted convictions. This means that in some cases the background reporting companies will pick up these convictions before they are expunged or removed from the record, and maintain them even though the state court systems no longer have any record whatsoever of these expungements or convictions.
