Unemployment Update CA EDD: How To Certify For Benefits So Your Claim Is Not Flagged & Pending

The CA EDD is starting to flag accounts for how you answer the certification questions when you certify for benefits and pending. If this happens to you, you might need to have a determination interview. In this video, I’ll talk about how to answer the determination questions so that your account doesn’t get stuck pending so that you can get paid. It is important to answer the questions truthfully but the certification questions are old and do not account for our current circumstance so even if you haven’t changed the way you’ve been answering the questions your account may still be flagged and you might be pending. If your unemployment claim is pending for one of these reasons, it’s possible that even if you call, the customer service reps might not be able to help you get your benefits and get paid.

I answered the UI Cert questions in the same fashion as you presented, even before finding this video, and this is the 2nd week I get disqualified since applying. Not sure why.

I have not been paid for pu for now 15 weeks are pending! I can’t get through to them on the phone!!! Ever!!! and they never answer my questions when I send them in there format. I always received an email saying they will email me with an answer in 5-7 days and I never get an email!!! Wth is happening here? In December they said they suspected fraud and that I would get more info in early January! Never got any information! Still I am asked to certify and do like clockwork. Do you have any insight on this???

Im on the determination list. I quit due to covid and was wondering one how long til they contact me to ask me the questions to determine if im elgible? Two will I have to appeal if im on a determination list and if i quit due to covid and my job not following my school schedule how should I answer their questions when they call? Will I be approved if it was because of covid? Could quitting due to them not following my school scheudle when they said they would (meaning I had put in a paper to show when i am avaliable they did not schedule me following that avalibility) be considered as quitting cause of covid as well.

That also wasn't the full reason they weren't following protocols for covid.

my work opened up in January but i have less hours now. Questions in employment verification – I entered in 7 hours i work a week. And the following questions employment status should I be using – "still working part time -on call" OR "still working parttime on call -COVID19 related" ….. Im sure if that would effect my benefits if i answer one or the other?? Can someone answer this? THANKS much love and blessings !

Follow-Up question to #6 asks about monies received….long list appears with one listing "severance"….I was honest and answered "yes" to severance…..ends up being "pending" for that week…..EDD website says severance is NOT "income" for unemployment purposes and cites a lawsuit…..will it reverse ? Can not et through on phone at all….frustrating….any guidance ? Thanks In Advance 🙂
